April 27 to May 13, 2012 (TATAK)

BRANDING QUALITY: The Artists of Tatak Reuben Ramas Cañete, Ph.D.
“Tatak” is the celebration of unprecedented Filipino visual artistry and individual talent through the distinctive works of Nunelucio Alvarado, Ferdinand Cacnio, Romulo Galicano, Renato Habulan, Joey Ibay, Raul Isidro, Raul Lebajo, Sofronio Y. Mendoza, and Lydia Velasco.
To be held from April 27 to May 13, the exhibition gathers more than thirty works of these contemporary masters in order to assert the identity of the Filipino Artist.
At par with the best artists of Asia and the rest of the world, these masters have showcased their unique contributions through their distinctive style: the stylized Social Realism of Alvarado and Habulan; the spiritual naturalism of Cacnio; the academic classicism of Galicano; the Expressionist power of Ibay and Velasco; the sublime abstracts of Isidro; the surreal imagination of Lebajo; and the Cubist mastery of Mendoza.
“Tatak” thus marks the diverse and virile artistic temperament of the contemporary Filipino artist as they confront and depict the world with poetic mystery, biographical reminiscence, and adaptive and unequivocal originality. - Reuben Ramas Cañete, Ph. D.
